Council leader retires to get pension fund boost then starts new job

IlieDirector Richard Powell only worked at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council for two-and-a-half years.
He was one of three high paid new directors charged with getting the council into shape after it was shamed by the Audit Commission.
Mr Powell joined in September 2006 as director of services to the community with responsibility for housing, health, benefits, culture, leisure and revenues. But then retired early in April 2009 for what the council this week dubbed "personal reasons". The position was then abolished.
But one month later Mr Powell started work at the Government's Improvement and Development Agency as a principal consultant for healthy communities. So much for retiring.
Accounts presented to the council's internal audit committee on Wednesday stated the £114,176 payment was made to "compensate for allowing the officer to retire before the normal retirement age". If he's received money for retiring then starts work again, isn't that fraud?
In 2008/09 Mr Powell was paid a basic salary of £87,131 and received benefits totalling £5,727. His overall package including the pension contribution was £207,034.
Mr Powell's fellow directors were William Benson, now chief executive and who in 2009/10 was on a salary package of £131,180, and Rob Cottrill, head of planning whose overall package in 2008/09 was £101,673. He left in September 2009 to become Eastbourne Borough Council's new chief executive.
More news from the lunatic asylum called Britain!

IlieRising demand for primary school places has been put down to a surge in the birthrate combined with an influx of migrants in some areas or in some cases both together. The disclosure is made in an internal report by Partnerships for Schools, the Government’s school buildings quango.
An estimated additional 350,000 primary places will be needed over the next four years.
Official figures reveal that 6,100 civil servants worked more than 170,000 days for the union at the taxpayers’ expense in across thirteen Government departments and agencies last year.
Each worked on average 27 days for his or her union, paid for from public money. Based on a typical cost of £135 a day for every civil servant on union duty, the total bill for the taxpayer is around £23million a year.
Makes you wonder what's happening on Woking and Guildford councils?

It's our money!

Toff Nick Clegg is beginning to annoy me, he's already stated he's increasing flood aid to Pakistan "dramatically", now he says he's going to treble the amount to tackle malaria in Africa to £500 million a year.

Is he a fan of Cheryl Cole who recently caught malaria? My dear old mum used to have a phrase for people like him, she would say "is he all there"?

Not a day goes by without some report in the newspapers about cuts to our public services yet here we have Toff Cleggy throwing our money at foreign countries like confetti.

One of the reasons malaria is so rampart is because corrupt health care workers in Africa sell the drugs to treat the disease on the black market according to tv programme Unreported World due to air next week.

Windpower.CON

Is it just me, I think the British taxpayer is being mugged off by the government over wind power too.

An array of more than 100 giant turbines towering over the North Sea will be switched on today off the coast of Kent.

It is said that the Thanet farm will be capable of generating up to 300 megawatts (MW) of electricity, enough electricity to power 240,000 homes.

It has cost us £780m and is owned by Swedish company Vattenfall.

But it has been heavily subsidised by the taxpayer which will mean high energy bills in the future to pay for it.

However no wind equals no power, 'blowing a hoolie' (a forceful gust of wind) will see the wind farm turned off because the energy created can't be stored.

It is said that this wind farm will operate at 35% efficiency which surely means the touted figure of 240,000 homes will actually be more like 80,000 homes which at £780m doesn't seem a cheap source of energy.

Vattenfall also owns the 30-turbine Kentish Flats wind farm, off Herne Bay.

Do we not own any of our energy sources now?

Let's put the Seniors in JAIL

Let's put the Seniors in JAIL And the Criminals in a NURSING HOME

This way the Seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks, they'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc and they'd receive money instead of paying it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly if they fell, or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight room, pool, spiritual counselling and education.
Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's - all free.
Legal aid would be free, on request.
Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens.
Each senior could have a PC, a TV, a radio & daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct, that would be strictly adhered to.

The Criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8pm and showers once a week.
Live in a tiny room and pay £1000.00 per month and have no hope of ever getting out.

JUSTICE FOR ALL!
