As this is a report by the BBC we have to hazard a guess at the "race" of the victim and the "race" of the perpetrators, but don't take a lot of working out, does it. If the lady had been non-white it would have been front page news for weeks.

An attack on a cyclist by four teenagers in Langshott is being treated as a racially aggravated assault by Surrey Police.

The 49-year-old woman was cycling along a secluded lane near Langshott Manor when she was approached by four teenagers, who were also on bicycles.

They blocked her path, racially abused her and one boy rode his bike into her, knocking her to the floor, police said.

The woman's head hit the ground during the attack at 1450 GMT on Tuesday.

Det. Con. Rachael Pearson said: "This was a completely unprovoked and malicious assault and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice."

She appealed for anyone who saw the attack or the boys to come forward.

"I am specifically keen to trace a jogger who stopped and asked the victim if she was okay after the incident.

"This man may have vital information so if that was you please come forward."
